Sweet Ride

Somehow, while trying to decide between the cheap stroller and the cheaper stroller, we ended up picking out an expensive stroller.  We went shopping for a Ford or a Honda Prelude and walked away with an Acura.  Not a Mercedes for sure, but easily an Acura (luckily without the need for high-octane gasoline).

Can we just take a walk already?

I was so excited about getting this stroller that I tipped the UPS guy $5 for delivering it in a thunder storm.  (Full confession:  Randy and I ran to the window and watched him unload it off the truck!)

We were lucky that our friend Annabell gave us a free! hand-me-down stroller that we used for the first four months.  This was awesome because, besides being free!, it was a great chance to see what was important to us in a stroller.  And it turns out what's important to us is wheels size.  Followed by a big storage basket and cup holders.

Even though I was sold on the more modest (and popular in our area) City Mini, Randy insisted that 8 inch wheels were not going to cut it.  And Randy's not a moderate guy...soooo...16 inch wheels it is!

I drove over a coiled garden hose with these bad boys.

If there is any baby item we should go all out on, we felt it was the stroller.  Since we don't own a car, this IS our vehicle.  It has to stand up to hauling groceries and other goods, subway stairs, road construction, curb jumping, high winds, maneuvering around other strollers, and impossibly bumpy sidewalks.  This gift wasn't for Tiger Cub, it was for us.  An Ikea crib is fine, but we need a boss stroller for sure.

Pushing this stroller is like being in some kind of frictionless universe, like living in a Physics I problem.  It's as if the stroller applied for, and was granted, an exemption from Newton's first law of motion.  All nerdy jokes aside, I have to say it is truly a pleasure to push.  I actually invent errands so that I can take it out for another spin.

Among other great features like an all-wheel suspension system and side air vents, it has a huge canopy that protects Tiger Cub's sweet baby skin from the hot summer sun.

I spy a Tiger Cub...through the baby viewfinder!

Although we were never really in the market for a jogging stroller, I'm now super pumped about the possibility of running again in my future.

Big wheels for dad and a jogger for mom.  Smiles all around!

Father's Day Fun

We started Father's Day off right with breakfast and dessert.  Tiger Cub didn't help cook but he did play happily on his play mat and seemed to voice his approval at times.

We had an ambitious day planned and it only made sense to fuel up on sugar.  If you know me, you won't be surprised that the only icing I had on hand was sparkly pink.

A cookie at 9 am makes sense to me!

After church we had a family date at one of dad's very favorite spots:  Starbucks.

Dad and son are both looking slick in new outfits.

After Tiger Cub's third nap of the day, we went to the playground and tried out the swing.  It went something like this:

Followed by advanced jungle gym moves...

Makin' it look easy!

Happy Father's Day Dad!  I love you as much as my favorite toys!

New Crib

We're not talking about just Tiger Cub getting a new crib - we ALL got a new crib.  A spacious 2-bedroom crib, Woohoooo!  We continue to be the most inefficient movers ever, although it went about 10 times better than this terrible moving experience.

My mom and brother Matt visited the same week we moved.  It wasn't planned; they were just lucky enough to arrive in time to provide lots of help with heavy lifting and baby watching.  Thanks a milllion guys!

Grandma time!  And this stove will change...

To show our gratitude, we let them stay with us in our new not-yet-airconditioned apartment during the hottest week so far of 2013.  It was so hot that Tiger Cub had to go shirtless.

Moving is tiring stuff folks...

We did break from the moving duties long enough to make a very fun excursion to Bryant Park and meet my Aunt Jane for lunch.

Meeting Aunt Jane was so exciting that Tiger Cub passed out exhausted.  But he woke up for ice cream...

At 3 months old, Tiger Cub decided he was too cool to keep rooming with his parents and scored his own bedroom.  It's complete with a full bed for grandparents or whoever else wants to come visit and be his roommate.

Posing post-nap in his new digs.

We have a nice (albeit small - yes, we're still in NYC so there are limitations) kitchen and got a few new appliances for good measure.

Inaugural batch of cookies using our new stove.

Checking out the sixth floor view...

This is the highest we've ever lived!

The daunting tasks of unpacking, installing ACs, hanging blinds, etc, etc, etc. continue.  But otherwise we're loving the new place!  Especially the extra space.

Ya'll come visit now, ya hear!
