Final December in NYC

December was the perfect last month in New York City. We got to experience all our favorite Christmas stuff one last time while the city was cool and lit up and then hightailed it outta there in early January when the city is just cold and bleak.

First we had Christmas in Savannah with the R Family. The three oldest cousins spent hours and hours playing together while Small Bear made friends with the pug.

An evening by the Brooklyn Bridge was picturesque but cold!

Tiger Cub finished gymnastics classes and we were finally able to watch his last lesson. Apparently our generation of helicopter parents is so intense that we can't be trusted to watch 3 year olds on mats.

We went to Tiger Cub's class Hanukkah performance and after-party. The kids sang songs about Antiochus and the Maccabees and lighting the menorah. Randy and I learned that there is more to it than a dreidel. Afterward there were jelly doughnuts and latkes for all, hooray!

Christmas felt a bit Christmukkah with all the Hanukkah crafts Tiger Cub brought home.

Small Bear wasted no time digging into some latkes.

On Christmas Eve we went to Macy's to see Santa. We got up at 6 am to beat the crowds! It's a totally ridiculous thing to do but we've seen the Macy's St. Nick for four years straight and it's just tradition. Also the Santaland in Herald Square is legendary. Their Santas are the top of their classes in Santa school and Tiger Cub was all about the trains this year.

See that sign? We were there at 7:30 am!

Rainy morning of Christmas window viewing.

Uncle Matt arrived and Tiger Cub was thrilled about celebrating his birthday!

Christmas breakfast, apartment style.

Then the grandparents arrived and we really got down to business.

On the day after Christmas, we lunched at a fancy hotel high above Columbus Circle.

And then everyone left and we started packing!
